Genuinely surprised that the food was pretty good because you don't always get ambiance AND good food. We each got their tacos, which I recommend going for their battered or fried fish/shrimp. Just not the regular beef or chicken, as this place has better seafood. The service is incredible & it comes with unlimited chips & salsa for the table -- which means you will not leave with an empty stomach! My favorite dish they had was the clam & mussels, as their sauce was so flavorful & creamy. I was definitely obsessed.
Stunning views, delicious food, and amazing service! This was an ideal place to watch the sunset on date night!
This is a nice and open restaurant in sunny San Diego. We got there right when it opened for lunch so there was no wait and no reservation needed. Staff there are very friendly, professional, and overall great! Our server Shanna was amazing - she introduced herself and made small talk with us, which was nice! When we told her that we were from out of town she guided us through the menu and informed us of the favorite menu items! The chips and salsa were delicious! Chips were crunchy and the salsa had the perfect amount of spiciness to it. Now let's talk about the carne asada - this wasn't a teaspoon of carne asada, these tacos were loaded with it along with some delicious avocado salsa, pico de gallo, shredded cabbage and cotija - Every bite was enjoyable! The rice and beans were delicious as well. I highly recommend visiting Coasterra, you will leave full and happy!
Delicious food, great ambiance, but the service was less than stellar. The vegetable chef's tasting menu was delicious. And the street corn...best ever! Also, the chicken empanadas were yummy. The guacamole needed salt and lime so we added that and it was good. Watched the sun set and enjoyed our dinner.
Coasterra on Harbor Island has some of the best views of the bay and Downtown San Diego. It is one of the big reasons you would dine at Coasterra. Coming here for a birthday celebration, our party of 10 was seated promptly on the outdoor covered patio. You know it's a good sign when the first item they bring out is warm crispy tortilla chips and salsa. These are dangerous as before you know it you've just plowed through one basket and the server comes and reloads your basket. For cocktail, I went with one of their popular drinks called "Deb's Coconut Margarita" consisting of reposado tequila, coconut cream, lime juice, and coconut salt rim. This drink is on the sweeter side and almost tasted like a pina colada. For my main I went with the Australian Skirt Steak cooked medium rare. It was juicy and cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed my steak and would order this again. Others in the party ordered the carne asada served on a large block where one can assemble their meal. Also the table ordered the Mexican Paella filled with shrimp, squid, clams, mussels, mexican chorizo, bomba rice, saffron lobster broth and smoked chipotle aioli. A filling yet satisfying entree. Great location and really you do come here to soak in the views of San Diego. The food was great but it felt a little on the higher price range for modern mexican food. Service was excellent as they have huge staff on hand to get you whatever you need. Parking is great as they have a large lot with valet parking.
Definitely had a great experience when we came here. We were sat immediately and our waiter was very quick. Our food and drinks were all so good in their own ways and perfect for our little weekend getaway. The staff was even incredibly helpful when I found something in my wine (that accidentally shouldn't have been there) and they handled the situation amazingly. I will likely be back the next time I'm in the area
Came here for an early dinner around 5:30 and it was a good experience. The restaurant wasn't crowded; however I reserved on Open Table 2 days before just in case it would've been, which made for a peaceful dining atmosphere. Our waitress, Marina H (from what the check said) wasn't too attentive throughout the meal, but she was friendly. We were seated right away and outside on the patio, which offered amazing views of downtown San Diego --definitely the perfect spot for a laid-back meal. As for the food and drinks, everything was spot on! The Spicy Margarita was just perfect with the right balance of heat and tang and also tried the Fiesta Del Sol. For food we tried the Yukon Potato Flautas and Chicken Tinga Empanadas both were seasoned and cooked perfectly. If you're looking for great food, potentially excellent service, and a stunning view, Coasterra is a must-visit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit-lunch for shrimp tacos! It was a cloudy day but I imagine the sunset here would be a great sight!
Our favorite restaurant in San Diego! Views are incredible, service is always friendly and extra hard working. The menu is amazing, my favorites are: tacos, street corn, queso dip and all margaritas are delish!! We've eaten both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. It's a wonderful venue with excitement and a fun atmosphere. We always recommend Coasterra to friends, family and any tourists we meet!
So my partner & I have gone to coasterra quite a bit in the past few years, but as of recently, has been SOO good. It was always good before, but we really feel that they've amped up their menu and food as of recently and we absolutely looooved our most recent visit. Both appetizers we got, chorizo mussels and clams and the cheese dip, were delicious. Our waitress was really nice, the views are always of course a huuuuge plus and what brings people in. But these apps will keep us coming back :) The drinks are also well balanced, not too sweet & overall really yummy. A great spot to bring family or friends who are visiting.
Stunning views of San Diego. We came at night during Comic Con week and were lucky enough to see fireworks from our table. Everything was served and prepared to perfection. The ceviche was phenomenal. The queso was flavorful and creamy, served with warm tortillas. The best of all was the Paella. Wow. The best Parlla I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. It had chorizo, clams, mussels, shrimp and squid. The rice was creamy and made the dish really special. A beautiful restaurant with great food and impeccable service. Thank you!
